Cacao
The International Cocoa Council (ICC) has classified Vietnam in the group of cocoa growing countries with high-quality cocoa products. After the 2013 Quality Cocoa award in France, Vietnamese cocoa has just been included in the list of the world’s leading producers of this agricultural product with good taste recognized by the ICC.
Besides Vietnam, only 1 other Asian country on this list is Indonesia. The rest are countries in the Americas and Africa.
Vietnamese cacao trees are grown mainly in provinces: Dong Nai, Binh Thuan, Ben Tre, Tien Giang, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria Vung Tau, Lam Dong, Buon Me Thuot, Dak Lak. Due to the differences in land, soil characteristics and processing, the Vietnamese cacao differentiates in flavor.
